Build a palette from what you own

Give one colour the lead and let the rest support it.

Choose an anchor

Lay a fabric offcut on the table and choose a button or thread colour to lead. Add one supporting colour and one accent. You can change that balance, but limiting the first sample makes differences easier to see.

Look at the actual materials

A screen palette is an idea, not a fabric match. Compare your real thread and buttons in the light where the finished piece will be used. Texture and finish can make similar colour names appear different.

Try a small arrangement

Group the materials beside the outline before attaching anything. Swap one part at a time and take your own reference photo if helpful. Write down colour codes and quantities for a combination you want to repeat.

Use the palette studio

Our colour tool offers starting combinations and a random mix. Keep an interesting arrangement as text or copy the codes into your planner. Use it as a prompt, then make the final choice with the physical supplies.
