Mending

Build a manageable mending queue

One clear next repair beats an overflowing basket.

Name the problem

Separate a missing button, loose stitching, damaged fabric and a poor fit. They are different jobs. Write the smallest useful description and decide whether you understand how to tackle it. Put specialist, delicate or uncertain work in a separate category.

Sort by a next action

Try three labels: ready to mend, needs supplies and needs advice. A favourite item with a small understandable repair can be a sensible starting point. There is no need to rank every garment or finish the entire pile in one weekend.

Keep the supplies together

Put the garment’s spare button or matching thread with its record. Read the care label before choosing an attachment or marking method. Test unfamiliar materials on a suitable scrap where possible.

Close the loop

After a session, note what changed and what remains. Return sharp tools to storage and put the next job in one visible place. Our record kit provides a queue and review sheets; it does not replace a specific repair tutorial.
